Taking the NCLEX

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

This morning I took the NCLEX. I think I failed. Everything I studied did not seem to be on the test only questions that I did not know the answer to were asked. There were only about two questions that I thought, “Ok, I know this one.”

I woke up at 5am, got to the test center at 6:30am. The test started at 7am. Funny thing happened on the way, I ran into Rawn, who I used to work with at McGettigan. It was great to catch up with him and having someone to talk to took my mind off of where I was headed. At the test center, the two guys running the test center were great. They joked with me which helped to ease my anxiety some. Anyway, it was all high security; finger printing, picture taking, signature. They even measured my bracelet to be sure it was under 1/8 of an inch wide. I sat down. Then, 75 questions and one hour later I left.

Luckily, the testing center was near Lake Merritt. I took a walk around it to calm my nerves. Called a bunch of people just to get my mind off that nagging feeling of failure. I felt and feel awful about the whole thing. If only I had the results… You don’t know the results right away. Check online in a few days and hope the results are there…

We made it! Only 3500 miles…

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

We made it home after a long trip across the country with a few detours to amusement parks along the way. It is good to be back in California. We were able to get home a day sooner than expected. A good thing, since Russel goes back to work and I start my NCLEX review class on Monday.

I thought the pictures below were fun. One is the day I left for Baltimore and the other is day I came back. The car is going different directions but is parked in the same spot.

Graduation Day!

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Today is the day that I have been working towards for 17 months. I graduate from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Only one thing the NCLEX is left for me to pass in order to be an RN. But that comes later. Today, we celebrate all the hard work and late night studying that got me to this point. Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way. Without the support of so many people I could never have finished or done as well.

Condo

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

We looked at these condos in Concord called Valley Terrace and we really liked them. It’s about a 20 minute drive from where I live now, we drove out there serveral times to look at the place. We were going to put a deposit down but unfortunatly the homeowners association had a no pet policy and we have two kitties. I’m sure we’ll find a better place.
