Labor Day on the Lynar-Liner

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

We had an awesome weekend! Our friends Nicole and Justin who have a son, Aidan, that’s about the same age as Alex invited us to stay in their families houseboat on Don Pedro Lake. There were a whole bunch of people there who were all cool and very nice. The houseboat was amazing, we slept inside the first night and moved to the top deck the second night. The stars in the night sky were beautiful. It was so much fun.

Camping on the American River

Monday, July 28th, 2008

We went camping with a bunch of family at Thousand Trails Ponderosa on the South Fork of the American River. It was a lot of fun. Alex got to put his feet in the freezing cold waters of the American River.

South Lake Tahoe

Monday, July 14th, 2008

A friend of my Dad’s is a Perennial Vacation Club member, and they had a week in a condo at Tahoe Village, Nevada and they didn’t want to lose it, so they gave it to my Dad. We went up to South Lake Tahoe on Saturday to stay with them for the weekend. We went to the Round Hill Pines Beach when we arrived, Alex put his feet in the waters of Lake Tahoe and Julie went for a swim. Getting to the condo takes your breath away, literally by the time you’ve climbed 53 steps from the parking lot to the 1st floor while carrying all of your luggage you almost have to stop and take a break. On Sunday we went to Glen Alpine Falls near Fallen Leaf Lake, it was gorgeous. Unfortunately I have to work, so we had to come home. My Dad is up there for the rest of the week, more of the family plans on coming to visit during the week.

Happy Independence Day!

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

We went camping at Morgan Hill Thousand Trails this weekend, it was Alex’s first camping trip! He was fine the first night. The second night he may have been too cold, he woke up in the middle of the night and it took us two hours to get him back to sleep. On Saturday we went to the beach, it was a lot of fun, I got to fly my new kite, and we ate at Duarte’s Tavern and Restaurant in Pescadero.

Congratulations Astrida and Tim

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Today we went to Tim and Astridas wedding, they’re some great friends of ours from Oakland. They’re from New Jersey though, so of course their wedding was in New Jersey. We flew from Portland, Oregon to Newark, New Jersey with Alex, he did great. Their wedding was awesome! It was at The English Manor. We had such a good time. They had so much food it was unbelievable, and the food was great. We met a bunch of their friends and family who were all fun to hang out with.

Due to my recent lack of sleep (and exercise) I am downgrading my ride to 25-miles. But I still need your help! There’s less than 2 weeks left and I’m way behind on my fund raising, go make a donation today! The ride is on May 4th, 3 days after my birthday! If you want to get me something for my birthday I’m registered at Amazon.com.

The Last Hoorah

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

We spent last weekend in Monterey at the Marriott Monterey. I took the day off on Friday and we drove leisurely down to Monterey. After we checked in we ate at the Old Fisherman’s Grotto where we split the lobster tail and fillet minion “surf and turf”, it was delicious.

On Saturday we went to Carmel-by-the-Sea, we went to the beach first, it was windy and freezing cold so we took to the shops. We stopped for a cookie at the Carmel Bakery and ate Lunch Paolina’s where they had some great pesto pasta. We drove the 17-Mile Drive and went to Pebble Beach Golf Links. For dinner we ventured to Moss Landing in search of Phil’s Fish Market, they’re famous for their cioppino but I’m not a big seafood fan, and Julie thought it looked gross. She got fish and chips and I have an artichoke.

Sunday we checked out of the hotel had breakfast at Grandma’s Kitchen on Fremont Street in Monterey, it was excellent. Then we enjoyed hanging out on the beach, flying a kite, watching the waves and the surfers while we soaked up the rays. It was so much fun!
